As an artist, I find that just placing a bit of pastel on to a sanded pastel paper fills me with excitement, anticipation and a feeling of total involvement. My objective is to capture that fleeting moment of beauty, that sunlit landscape, that innocent or wise face and share it with the viewer.Someone once said that art is a series of mistakes and corrections. That is the thrill of pastels. It is not the sure confident stroke but the continuous experimentation that rewards me. This gives me great satisfaction. I never am completely finished with a painting but instead always see room for improvement. This allows me to constantly grow and strive for the perfect painting, the perfect impression, the perfect expression of all man’s emotions.
