The 9th Annual Carrboro Music Festival was September 24, 2006. Our day long, free festival featured numerous musical styles at 21 indoor and outdoor venues including The Carrboro Century Center, Cat’s Cradle, Weaver Street Market, Armadillo Grill, Open Eye Cafe, The ArtsCenter, and the Carrboro Town Commons. The outdoor sites featured music until dark, while some of the indoor venues went until midnight. As always, the event focused on a myriad of musical styles with 150 different musical aggregations, ranging in size from solo artists to a seven piece World Music band.

Gerry Williams with son Cameron As festival coordinator for the fifth year, Gerry Williams observed, “This is the most incredible music event that I have been involved with during my thirty year professional career in and around the world of music. Unlike many aspects of the music business, this is entirely about celebrating our community and its music. The range and quality of what we see and hear each year is simply amazing!”

The Scramble Slide The Town Commons was again the hot spot for kids this year, featuring a Castle Bounce House, a Scramble Slide and a variety of kid’s activities including the arts and crafts of Ellen's Kids' Corner and a visit from Mother Goose's cousin Lulu the Love Fairy. We also featured a nice variety of food and drink concessions, tasty treats available for purchase next to Town Hall. Thanks for patronizing our vendors! Their revenues help keep our free festival going!

The Local Sounds art exhibit was hung at Carrboro Town Hall and the Century Center. This was a retrospective of the local area music scene sponsored by the Carrboro Art Committee and curated by Tori Ralston and Ron Liberti. This year also featured photos from past Carrboro Music Festivals and art work by local musicians.
